Monday Made It and Class Reveal!

I'm so excited to participate in another Monday Made It! This time - it's my classroom reveal...well, at least as much as I have completed of it! I have a tad bit more work to do. 

But - before the reveal, I have to share what I've been doing these past 3 weeks...

First...our son got married! We love our new daughter, Naomi! She is a gem and they are a great team.

What do you do when you are an empty nester?...

  

Yes! My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in Paris and Venice! It was a wonderful trip! It was really one of our few vacations. Anytime we have gone out of country, it has been on a mission trip with our church. These was the first time to go to another country and just relax! My hubby has been working out of town for the past few years and is only home a few days a week so it was a special time to be able to spend together. LOVED it!  Venice was my favorite...such a beautiful city and the FOOD....OMG. So good.  

After coming back home, I had to quickly get to work on my classroom. I moved rooms this year and while my room is a bit larger, it is long and skinny. I am still trying to figure out how my new desks fit together! I haven't quite gotten that down yet!

  

I love my shiplap bulletin board paper and papers flowers. The flowers were super easy to make and turned out so pretty! This board is the fridge for student work:

I can't take too much credit for this one except for printing out, laminating, and cutting! These are Marzano's Levels of Questioning by Teaching and So Forth. You can purchase it HERE from TPT!

This is my "Keep the Quote" board. All I did is take a roll of Kraft Paper and put twine through it and hung it from 2 hooks! Easy!

I've posted my group boxes but here they are again. I'm trying to make it so that my group shelves are not so messy! Someone will be in charge of keeping them clean and organized. The group caddies are cute with a fake succulent in them!

Those that know me know I love to run and cycle...so...I had to include a little bit of that on my book shelf:

File Cabinet Makeover!

My husband brought home an old file cabinet and we had fun making it over! First we painted it white (it was a weird tan color)...then...we added old solid redwood to the front that he had saved! Free makeover and looks awesome! We did buy cute drawer pulls from Amazon!

Finally, I bought a new essential oil for my classroom...Purification! Oh my...it smells awesome!! I don't know how I am going to give it up and send it to school to use so I am going to have to get another one for our house!  I'm putting in an order mid month so comment if you want me to order some for you!

Monday Made It - July 3

Once again I am joining 4th Grade Frolics and #mondaymadeit! So on to the creating...

My son gets married in 2 weeks!! I wanted to make something to give to my future daughter-in-law to welcome her into the family...so I decided on making a welcome mat! I watched a YouTube video on using the Cricut to create a mat and I am really happy with how it turned out!

I love cooking when I am home for the summer. Kale and Caramel is my favorite cookbook! The ingredients are fresh and EVERYTHING I've made has turned out so yummy! This week I made homemade ricotta. The author, Lily Diamond, stated that once you make homemade ricotta you won't want to purchase it any more from the store. So true!! It was the yummiest EVER! And, it was super easy! Check out her cookbook if you want the recipe. You'll be happy you did!

Every year I have students sign a social contract. I like to draw a tree with Tombow pens, then have students sign it with their fingerprint. I keep the pictures year to year. Here is the one I drew last year:

Finally, last night I simply could NOT turn my brain off. Literally, I was up until 2:30 with visions of kale and bike acrostics going around in my head. I was trying to figure out something new and different that fits my style.  I love kale, but am not too thrilled with the acrostic.  The words don't really work - I tried! Any better ideas? I like bikes and enjoy the words a bit more...still wishing that I could use the kale one in a better way. Which one is your favorite?

Monday Made It - June 26

I've had a blast this week making things! Wish I could tell you I came up with these ideas on my own - but I didn't! I usually draw inspiration from others. I do make everything myself...but I get the ideas from other people usually!

The first one is originally from Head Over Heels for Teaching.  Give her a visit because her things are so cute! In one of her Instagram posts she showed how she made Shout Out signs for her classroom from Dollar Tree frames. Such an awesome idea!

What I did for mine:  I created the template in PowerPoint and printed out. (Again, the design is from Head Over Heels for Teaching...thank you for the inspiration!) Next I cut it to the frame size and placed in the frame. I had some darling arrow Post-It notes so I chose those and stuck one to the front of each.  I chose 3 different sayings...one for giving encouragement, one for noticing something kind, and one for writing about a favorite book!!

Next, I ordered a bunch of washi tape from NAEIR. (If you haven't found NAEIR yet, you will want to check them out!). Where to put it all??!! Someone posted this great video on creating a washi organizer from Dollar Tree items so I had to make it!

Here is my version:

First, I purchased the rotating stand and containers (2 stands, 6 containers).

I emptied out the cotton items and kept the swabs for art projects and maker space!

Next, I removed the stickers from the front of the containers. Well, I tried. They were hard to remove!

Yep, kind of a gross mess. So I decided to cover them. I had some sticker printer paper and used it to create stickers that I put on the front and sides.  Much better!! I printed out motivational sayings and quotes.

Next, I glued them to the base surface. I used Loctite because it is what I could find!

Finally, I glued on the top lazy susan piece and let it dry!  AWESOME!

Every year I try to put out "wish list" items for parents to pick up if they wish. This year I am going with a donut theme and putting donuts out with them.
